Animated & 3D Media

"Fish Flop" is a project exploring the interactivity and scripting capabilities of Adobe Director. Our goal was to create an instrument from uncommon objects. We were also to take sounds into Audacity and modify the pitch. This created the eight notes of the octave. Everything you see in the animation I created in Maya: background, water, pelicans, fish. All of the programming was done in Adobe Director, using sprites and several film loops.

"Tapir Greeting" This is another interactive animation I created with several objectives in mind. First, I created a walk cycle in Maya for my Brazilian Tapir, Vladimir. Then, I took three layers of PNGs for the environment and animated them in loops at different speeds in Adobe Director, simulating perspective and movement. Finally, interactivity comes into play as you click on the animation. He gets destracted from his stroll and stops to say hello. Click again, and he continues on his way.

"Tapir Walk Cycle" is my first attempted walk cycle in Maya. I tried to pay special attention to the movement of the Vladimir the tapir's mini trunk, as they are floppy and are able to act almost as an elephant's trunk. Additionally, with any quadruped walk cycle, timing the foot placement had been especially challenging.

This was my very first Maya animation. It has obvious flaws, but he still has some charm... this was also my first attempt at UV texture mapping and animation with a skeleton system and smooth skin bind.
